Approach is ordered in the same sequence that we tracked the songs on Cinco De Mayo. Theme Song blends some of my favorite harmonic elements, and as soon as I heard what Brian and McClenty were playing on this take, I knew we were in a great night of recording.

I must admit, I went into the recording not knowing exactly how the record would sound. I gave minimal direction as far as the feel of the song goes or what I'd like to hear from the organ and drums. What Brian and Mac did with each tune was exactly what the tune called for. Both played tastefully and with fire.

Theme Song was also the first in a series of 20 or so pieces that I began writing and playing live in a duo format in 2010. It's appropriate that it kicks off the new album, as it also lead to the compositions that came after it.
